Well, ok, not quite a conspiracy, just common business actions – but these actions aren’t often covered by most news outlets/influential blogs.

All businesses do “bad” things. But everyone seems to, or at least until the last few months, see Google as “good”. In recent months there has been quite a lot of people pointing to their “do no evil” motto, and questioning it.

Google Webmaster Tools (AKA Google Sitemaps) is a very handy tool for search engine optimisers. Crawl dates, index stats, page rank information, search engine result positions and more.

So what tools out there are the best ones to help you use it? Well -

• Google Sitemap Generator and Editor – I have found this to be the best online free sitemap generator. It can produce XML sitemaps, plain text site maps, html sitemaps and lots more
• WordPress sitemap plugin – very usefull, updates automatically.
• Sitemap crawler for Windows – standalone program (not by Google). Good, but I prefer the first one in my list (Which doesn’t even require a download…)
• vBulliten Sitemap Generator – vbsitemap.
• GSMaster - this isn’t so simple to set up but more powerful. Requires php knowledge (And some mysql knowledge)
